Be it for work, parties, formal events, dates, leather shoes will surely give you the perfect look. They exude class, sophistication, style and transform your personality instantly. But this statement only stays true when you take good care of your leather shoes.

Leather is one of the most high maintenance materials out there, therefore, you need to look after them the right way. Here are 5 shoe care tips from us to help you take care of your leather shoes to keep them looking good for the long haul.

Keep them away from dust - Clean shoes are a sign of a man who pays attention to the little details. Use a dry brush to remove any dust and dirt particles from your shoes. Now take any old, damp cloth and give your shoes a gentle wipe. Avoid soaking them directly in the water. Be cautious while cleaning off the dirt and give your shoes a thorough cleaning inspection before moving ahead to the next step as lingering dirt specks can scratch the leather while shining.

Condition your shoes - Leather conditioners and creams play a very important role in keeping your shoes moisturized. This process helps in softening the membrane and protects it from drying out and cracking. Take a soft piece of cloth and apply your conditioner or cream evenly and leave them to air dry. You can condition them every 6 to 12 months.

Polishing the shoes - Once you are done with the second step, it's time to polish your shoes to make them look as good as new. Polishing adds shine and freshness to your shoes. It's the final touch-up before you wear your shoes again. Regularly polishing your shoes and frequently applying a shiner will help in giving your shoes a longer life and help in maintaining their shine and texture.

Store your shoes the right way - Shoes need proper air circulation, and therefore storing them in plastic or even cardboard shoe boxes is never a good idea. Always keep them open or on a shoe rack. However, you can also keep them in bags that are made of fresh fabrics for easy and efficient air circulation, keeping them fresh and odor-free. You can even take these bags while you are traveling.

Rotate your shoes daily - By giving your shoes a break of at least a day or two, it can help to extend the life of your leather shoes. Avoid wearing the same pair on consecutive days, especially during summertime. You need to let your shoe breathe for a while.

Use a Shoehorn - A shoehorn is a little accessory that helps in slipping on your leather shoes. It allows them to easily slide into them without damaging the leather. You don't need to have a long-handle shoehorn, a small portable shoehorn would do just fine. It is good to place them inside the shoes when not wearing them.
