History of Mother's Day and Ideas for 2018

Mother's Day is celebrated to honor the motherhood, mothers of a family, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. With Mother's Day just around the corner, it's natural to ponder about its very beginning and establishment. Brief History of Mother's Day

This runs back to the year 1908 when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at St Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Anna had long remembered her mother pray for a holiday to appreciate and honor the efforts of all mothers, after her mother's sad demise, Anna initiated the movement that led to the proclamation and by the second death anniversary of her mother, the movement was successfully signed by President Woodrow Wilson in 1914 and the first official Mother's Day was celebrated on the second Sunday of May. Mother's day is celebrated on different days at different areas in the world. Most briefly it is celebrated in months of May and March but also observed in months of February, April, June, July, October, November, and December at a few other countries in the world.
